For the study, we are looking for volunteers who can help us document how the interface changes over time. This involves recording so-called walkthrough videos three times a month using the screen-recording function. And it does not matter whether you listen to Sunn or Ewa Farna.

“Discoverability” is a term that has recently featured prominently in European Commission reports on music streaming and video-on-demand services. It refers to the ways in which platforms make content more visible through algorithms or prominent placement within their interfaces. In other words, availability is no longer the main issue. These modes of discoverability and the analysis of platform interfaces are at the heart of an ongoing study of streaming conducted by a team consisting of Petr Szczepanik, Miloš Hroch and Jannick Kirk Sørensen. The research examines how algorithmic discoverability affects the visibility of local, regional and European music.
