In the first phase of implementation, the applicant conducts a sociological survey of the needs of this professional group and of the challenges of creative work in the field of remixing and/or sampling. The sociological component consists of mapping the practices, attitudes, and needs of professional and amateur artists creating music remixing/sampling typical of popular electronic music genres (hip hop, drum’n’bass, techno, etc.). Subsequently, the applicant organizes two workshops in Prague with the participation of experts in management and law from the Czech Republic and Norway and publishes a handbook for these creators with “best practice” recommendations.
The project strengthens the capacity of the Association of Authors and Performers, enabling it to address DJs’ issues more systematically in the future, and enhances DJs’ professional competencies as entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals—groups that have so far received limited attention from the association. At the same time, the project connects Czech and Norwegian experts to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and examples of good practice.
