This multidisciplinary research provides the Czech Television (Česká televize) as the application guarantor with recommendations for the development of a new video portal (a successor to iVysílání). It delivers a comprehensive—and in its scope, the first—assessment of the opportunities and risks associated with the online services of public service media (PSM). The research includes an analysis of the existing iVysílání portal, followed by a comparative analysis of the online services of five Western European public service media organizations. Based on these analyses, the project proposes strategic solutions and models of good practice for the development of a new Czech Television online service, focusing on cataloguing, so-called online curation, online-only content, and web analytics. The project outputs are also applicable to private internet television services. The research is closely coordinated with the ongoing development of the Czech Television portal.
