The author team consisting of Marie Čtveráčková, Václav Hodonický, Miloš Hroch, Miroslav Krša, Rudolf Leška, Aneta Martínková, Rostislav Sliwka, Petr Szczepanik, Michal Tomčík, and Pavel Zahrádka prepared a collective monograph on the obstacles, problems, and opportunities related to the export of Czech popular music abroad. Individual chapters focus on the availability and reliability of data on the export of Czech music; the impact of EU cultural policy on licensing and the availability of repertoire from a small national market in the catalogues of streaming services; an analysis of the legal form of music export offices and their practical functioning; examples of Czech artists striving for international success; the quality of Czech music production and recordings in terms of aesthetic, stylistic, and technical standards common on the international scene; and, last but not least, the influence of streaming platforms on the listenership and visibility of Czech repertoire abroad.

The book Music from the Periphery: Intermediaries and Inequalities in the Cross-Border Distribution of Czech Music in the Platform Era was published by Palacký University Press and is freely available under a Creative Commons license. It was created as part of the project Opportunities and Barriers to the Cross-Border Distribution of Czech Music Production. It is the first book publication devoted to current issues of exporting Czech music production and the functioning of the Czech music industry.
